Notes to Editors:
From the start of the Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup the Sentebale team took the lead early in the first chukka with a 60 yard shot from Royal Salute Ambassador and 6-goal England player Malcolm Borwick. That set the pace of the game with Nigerian player Adama Atta very unlucky not to make it 2-0 with a superb neck shot. Sentebale kept the momentum going as Borwick found HRH Prince Harry who kept his cool to tap in a great goal to stretch the lead. Straight after the restart Nacho Figueras pulled one back and in the dying seconds Hannes Pickard slotted a sweet backhander to make it all square in a thrilling first quarter.
Sentebale again started the second chukka very strongly with Atta walking the ball in to make it 3-2 to the Sentebale team, but it was not long before Nacho equalised to make it 3-3. Atta made it 4-3 in thrilling end-to-end play but again with some superb close control Nacho equalised with 9 seconds to go before half time making it 4-4, however there was not time to take a breath before Atta got his hat trick as Sentebale finished the second chukka as strong as they started making it 5-4.
Borwick took on Figueras at the beginning of the third cutting the ball in from wide on the left to make it 6-4. Figueras got his revenge on the restart to make it 6-5. Borwick continued the cat and mouse but hit the post. Again Borwick tried with a penalty, but superbly blocked by Figueras. Rupert Hickwell and Hannes Pickard combined well to make it 6-6, with Nacho striking a long range bullet of a shot that soared in just as the bell rang to end the third chukka making it 7-6 to Royal Salute.
Sentebale started the 4th chukka as enthusiastically as the others with Borwick equalising at 7-7. In a tense final few minutes, either side could have stolen it but with 6 seconds to go, Bill Ballhaus, having flown over from Virginia fired home the winner for the Royal Salute team, making the final score 8-7. Bill Ballhaus went on to be named most valuable player of the match.
Sentebale is a charity co-founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho – a southern African country bordered within South Africa.Prince Harry visited Lesotho in 2004 and was struck by the devastating effect the HIV/AIDS epidemic was having on the nation and particularly its children. Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso founded Sentebale, meaning ‘forget me not’ in Sesotho in 2006 – a charity aiming to rewrite the future for the impoverished population of Lesotho, providing the thousands of children and young people affected by HIV/AIDS with vital access to accommodation, care, education and critical psychosocial support. If children with HIV are educated about the virus, they not only learn about their condition but can educate their peers about the disease, enlightening a generation about this potential killer.

About the Royal Salute Neolithic Bar
Designed by Sally Mackereth, the renowned London based design with her architectural practice Studio Mackereth, the bar is handcrafted from sections of petrified wooden oak taken from the River Sava in Croatia. These trunks were trapped on the riverbed and deprived of oxygen, then covered with layers of mud, sand and gravel between 1,000 and 8,000 years ago. Over thousands of years, the oak decomposes into a fossil - the minerals reacting with water and the tree tannins to produce a unique colour and patina. Jack Badger Ltd, a team of highly skilled craftsmen who have worked together for over 25 years creating beautiful products that last several generations, constructed the bar. After Milan, it will be showcased worldwide at exclusive Royal Salute polo events. This considered handcrafting perfectly matches the craftsmanship and lineage inherent in Royal Salute. Blended and aged in oak casks in a complex but entirely natural process, the world’s finest Scotch whisky can take over half a century to produce.
